Chapter 23
By Shell97
Radhani… Kuri couldn’t get the name that Cisia/Dalasius had called him out of his head. Instinctively he knew that Radhani was the woman he had always seen in his dreams. But right now Kuri had more important things in mind. “Talehn,” he called as he tugged on the older man’s sleeve. “We need to get a doctor.”
“Are you okay?” Talehn asked, his eyes worried.
Kuri nodded. “I feel alright.”
“Then I think we should stay here, Anika did tell us to stay put.”
“Anika just told you to stay with me, besides Mikan needs help.”
Talehn’s brow furrowed. “Mikan?”
Kuri walked behind a wall of cardboard boxes and came out carrying a small lifeless girl. “My sister.”
"I'm extremely civilized, and I never did like staring down the business end of a gun," Nelson said as he bent to lower his shotgun."
"What the fuck do you think you're doing Sergeant?" Lydon screamed his spittle coming up in an arc to hit Darian.
Sgt. Nakano shrugged. "Self-preservation, John, Self-preservation. If I remember correctly, it happens to be one of your personal commandments."
Darian lowered the gun he had aimed at the Sergeant's hand.
"Don't tell me you actually buy his crap?" Phoenix sneered.
"I do," Darian replied calmly, his voice brokering no opposition. He waved his gun at Lydon. "But do you mind telling me why you'd leave this fine officer at my mercy, Sergeant?"
Tears welled up in the corners of Nelson's eyes as he threw his head back laughing. "I don't mind at all, sir." When he faced the man holding a gun on John Lydon again his face was as if set in stone. "This 'fine officer' as you put it just happens to be responsible for my sister's murder."
